Cal Pappas, author of several books on double rifles, owned that rifle at a prior date and he did the research on it. That information went along to next caretaker.
Bucky should give credit where credit is due.
After reading all Buckstix's posts on the rifle, I didn't get the impression he was taking credit for doing all the research. I even went back and re-read it after your post. He even says that a lot of the research was already done in his OP. He may not have mentioned the person responsible for doing the research but I didn't read it as anything other than Buckstix relaying the story of a cool old rifle that he bought.
