Most high speed belted magnums are at their best beyond 500yd. I wonder how many .300wins and .300wbys have been purchased by people who never shot them to 300yd, let alone 400 or 500yd or beyond.
I purchased a 300-wby for its sheer 'power'(as an impressionable youngster the marketing hype worked on me) but certainly not for planning on 500+yd shots....200yd was my most ever.
On reflection, an 'anaemic' factory load 7mmMag would have more than sufficed.
