I used a number of sources for the serial #'s. I'm not sure but that range may have come from the NRA data. Murray's data says (p. 3-84) "Serial Numbers at Year End:". the first entry shows 10,000 and 1899. We know that 10,000 was either very late 1898 or early 1899. This makes the rest of his early data suspect although he and I are in agreement by 1908.
