I've never hunted/shot deer with a 270 but have used a 280 a bit. This is with 139gr SSTs so I figure that's close enough to the 270/140gr. In any event, last deer I shot with the 280 load was through both shoulders at 75-80 yards. Deer went about two body lengths and dumped over. At leat a part of the bullet exited as there was a hole on the opposite shoulder. It was a doe but a good sized one.
