LOL, then go with Odessa's recommendation. As a young officer I carried a 6" sheath knife by Old Timer, but used my Old Timer stockman 95% of the time.
Today I carry a small stockman and a basic Swiss Army everywhere. They make a nice pocket size combo with the stockman handling the fine stuff and the Victorinox taking the rough jobs and abuse.
You don't give his age so I will assume he is under 12.
