I remember seeing them years & years ago, too. I also remember thinking 'why would anyone want to reload .22 lr, they're only $.75 a box'. Wish I had bought a trainload, at that price.


A number of years ago (okay, 35 years ago) Uberti made a few 1866 replicas in .44 rimfire. Dad and I discussed how we'd load ammo for one. The phrase "fulminate of mercury" came up and we decided that some things are best consigned to history...
