High, for sure, but nothing like you are talking about.

I think the reason surgery volumes are off is that people are going south of the border to get small surgeries done for a fraction of the price. An acquaintance just had two root canals and bridges put in in Puerto Vallarta. $600 and change vs $3,600 locally. US trained dentist, too. Another acquaintance had his daughter go down for arthroscopic knee surgery, couple of thousand $ and she's up and running again.

The problem is not the cost of insurance, the problem is the cost of medical care.
