You need the "big picture, logistics guy" for overall war planning. Even if he knows real battle tactics, he won't have the opportunity to use it.


Gen George Marshall had as much impact, or more, on the outcome of WW-II than 95% of the generals/admirals and especially shaped the post war world with the Marshall plan and never saw combat.

That being said, how is someone a helo pilot and flag officer and only accumulated 1500 hours?
