See what his career track was. If it was Safety, watch him carefully. If it was Tac Ops, dont let him PIC an A/C.

Kind of joking, but kind of not. Safety and Tac Ops were not the career tracks where your strongest of pilots end up. Not saying there arent some good ones there. Most of the hard-chargers wanted to track IP or Maintenance Test Pilot. The guys that loved to fly and had the true passion, wanted to stay on the flight line so they track IP or MTP.

An easy way to tell is to see how what the ratio of PIC time is to total time. If he is done with his initial hitch or retired, his PIC time should far outnumber his copilot(PI) time.

If you didnt hire him as a pilot, disregard the above.
