I assume the little bear logo is the way CA is complying with the the Real ID Act, not having on your DL means the State of CA hasen't confirmed that you are who your DL says you are. I'm not sure why the Walmart you visited is taking issue with it, the new federal requirements don't go into effect until next year. ................................
That's what I was thinking of while reading this thread. Just renewed my NY state drivers license back in Feb. and I upgraded to what NY state calls an "enhanced license". IIRC someday I may need that type license to get on a plane (?) or when I cross the border into Canada. I knew there were some other things that kick in someday in the future.
