I pulled the trigger on the 280AI. I guess my reasoning is if it becomes impossible to buy good factory loaded ammo or components, I can always go back to a 30-06. I think ultimately I'll own one (30-06) anyways at some point for the sake of owning it but it could be years down the road. I took a look at some of the test targets with different ammo from the rifle that I'm picking up tomorrow and it appears that its iffy with 140-150gr factory loaded ammo but likes 162gr eld-x. Which is great for me because I have a friend that works for Hornady that hooks me up with ammo from time to time.
