1/4 cup kernels measured with the "purple" measuring cup, using the "popcorn" setting on our nearly 20 year old microwave oven, and usually have to stop the oven with anywhere from 0-15 seconds when it's ready.
And over the years since I found this wonderful invention, I have found I prefer El Cheapo popcorn over the expensive type. They pop better and taste better in my expert opinion.
Between the microwaves and the plastic popper I've probably shortened my lifespan by a good 30 minutes.
