When I first heard Rush in 1989 in Atlanta he was something new. First of all, he was syndicated, he lived in New York but was on the radio in Atlanta.
He was on am 640. [By the way Sean Hannity got his start on am 640 in 1992, it was his second radio job.]

Rush would play pop music and use it to poke fun at people.
There was a hit from the sixties, "Born a Woman" by Sandy Posey.

"It makes no difference if you're rich or poor, or if you're smart or dumb
A woman's place in this old world, is under some man's thumb..."

He would play that song and then do the Feminist Update. Feminists were always doing something nutty or stupid it was a perfect fit.

Also he would play "Ain't Got a Home" by Clarence "Frogman" Henry, and then do the Homeless Update.
