I think its the case the last 25-30 years people have been affluent enough to follow fashion and indulge options for fun. I remember when I was into big game rifles way back, you might have your setup of normal guns, but just 1 or maybe 2 big guns in the safe. Look at posters now, guys are 'accumulating' a dozen big calibres or different guns in the same calibre(!) . They swipe a credit card a few times a year and collect them like baseball caps. Which is no harm it you can afford it...but I dont think this will be supportable in the coming future. Collections for the next generation will look a lot more like they did in the 70's and 80's- A few guns that do the job and change hands less. There will still be affluent guys and hardcore enthusiasts with a safe full of guns, they were always there, but they will go back to being the exception.
