I made a big pan of popcorn as a nightime snack that turned into a meal. Went to sleep. Later had the stabbing pain that kept getting worse near the belly button. I'm not one to call an ambulance, but was tempted to. Then I reviewed in my mind what the hospital treatment would be and decided to call a buddy for prayer instead. He wasn't happy about me waking him up, but I reminded how we had a bunch of prayers answered in the past, just over the phone and that I felt like I wasn't going to make it through the night. As soon as we closed in prayer, my unbearable stomach pain went away. So glad that I was on speaking terms with the Lord, or id not be able to speak to you now.
The first thing that came to mind after praying was that I should drink a lot of water. No audible voice, just a clear intentional thought. It hasn't happened again since.

Next morning I thought that the dry food became lodged in the small intestine and couldn't move along. I didn't drink anything before or during the popcorn. Bowel obstructions can become dangerous and acts like a kink in the hose too.

I got hold of my doctor for a phone consultation.
She confirmed what I suspected and went onto tell me about her late husband. He had was dehydrated and ate a meal of fried (dry) food. Had the same thing happen. She used to work at a hospital and knows the protocol. She offered to help him with her own treatment and he insisted on going to the hospital instead. He never walked out of the hospital.

Here's my guess. God only knows.
I've never heard of severe food poisoning last so long, but I believe you're right. That sub did a number on you and sounds like it was almost your last meal.

Big hunk of bread and dry processed meat. Very dry. If you were already dehydrated, even a drink with the meal might not have been enough that one time. Must've been something nasty in addition to blocking the hose by the sounds of it.

3 hours later, felt like a bayonet was goring me in the belly button. I thought gawd maybe gas pains, started puking. Puked every 3-4 hours for 3-1/2 days. Wasnt nothin left to puke cept my nuts.
Threw in the towel, went to the ER on that Saturday. Told em I had food poisoning been toughing it out at the house. They seen my hernia and labeled me with intestinal entrapment. Fuggers wouldnt listen to me, I’ve had the same hernia for 4 years never any gut pinches or issues.
Got sucked into the institution, still puking my brains out. Ended up having to prove I didnt have a folded intestine by drinking pass-thru contrast. Chit tasted like dow bathroom cleaner. Cant eat for 24 hours during that test. Hell I had not eaten for several days before. surgeon said all was good not kinks.

While I was barfing for several days, it caused my transplant to go into renal failure due dehydration. They had to deal with that, put me on iv fluids to bring my kidney back online. Worked it back slowly. All the while still barfing. No intake of food.

They sent 6 thug nurses into my room and forced and N-G into my nose down my throat into my stomach. I yanked it right back out told em no damn way I was having that. Vengeful MD(internist) made me submit to the contrast pass thru test again, she was convinced my guts were still knotted up cause I wouldnt stop barfing. Was only puking up green bile. I told them they were flooding me with too much iv fluids. I puked up the contrast ruined a 24 hour test. They tried to sweet talk me back into the N-G tube. N fing way.

You're fortunate that they didn't force a sedative injection and have their way with you. I don't think they have the right to either. It's a common practice though. Some sedatives will cause liver or renal failure too.

8 days in, I told the docs get my paperwork or whatever, I was leaving in two hours. Signed a statement that I understood I was leaving “AMA” against medical advice.

Been home last few days, running back and forth doing labs to prove I’m better off at home than there.

Been weak as hell, only last 3 days been able to finally eat some small meals. Very small.

Docs never listened to me about my idea of getting sick from that sandwich, they just seen my hernia and went off on a side adventure thinking my small bowel was pinched off. I basically had to fight off whatever listeria or gawd knows what I had gotten a hold off on my own. They kept me doped up so much it was hard to fight them. Wife was Utah, couldn’t get a flight that didn’t cost less than $900. So she drove a rental car for two days straight to help me GTFO out of that hospital.

Can't say I missed you, but I'm glad you didn't buy the farm.

You are a stupid, irresponsible sonofabitch.

I am MAGA.
