My go-to bullet for .30-06 is the Barnes 165 gr. TSX. Have used it on everything from a tiny Cape Grysbok in Africa to Rocky Mtn. elk and whitetail deer. Lay in a good supply of these bullets, a few pounds of IMR 4350 powder, some CCI Large Rifle primers, and some good brass, and you are good to go for many years on most game you can pursue on this planet. A classic load for the .30-06 is 57.0 gr. of IMR 4350 and a 165 gr. bullet.
