I am a 308 Win guy myself, but my best friend and hunting buddy for over 60 years always carried his Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 30-06 for everything. Mostly deer, elk, and bear. His bullet of choice was the 165 grain and 180 grain partitions depending on the game (180 for elk, 165 for deer).. They served him well. As a side note, most everyone in our elk/deer hunting camps used the Nosler PTs in a selection of calibers including 30-30, 30-06, 308 Win, 8x57 JS, 7x57 Mauser, 7mm Mag, and 300 Win Mag. At age 80, I can say with out any reservations, that that the Nosler Partition has stood "the test of time" in my humble opinion.
