i just cant digest 700 for a stock anymore...i guess remembering the 350-400 dollar days makes it harder also

Yep. $450 is about my limit for a synthetic hunting stock handle. Would have to be a very special rifle to justify $700.
If not McMillan then consider a Manners Composite at about $630 or AG Composites at about $550 (those are approximate prices). Both make great stocks with great reviews and CS.
