My family is from the UP and I lived there for 25 years. It's a great place for many reasons. However, the winters got old and the Marquette area where I lived changed rapidly during that time. It's really becoming a liberal hell hole. Glad I moved to Montana a few years back.
For the MT guys the UP us like a combination of Butte and the high line. In fact most.of the non Irish in Butte came from the Houghton/Kewanaw area.
