Lotta factory jobs around here where she wouldn't bring home much more than that. Which is why I think it's a big load of bullshyt when you see these people harping on "bring back the factory work to bring back America's middle class". For one thing unless you're in management, much factory work doesn't pay middle class wages anymore since the unions are gone and for another all they're going to do is end up having a whole lotta illegal immigrants doing those factory jobs because they don't pay shyt. We've already got one factory here that's been busted for having illegals working several times because none of the locals want to work for what they pay. Nobody values blue collar labor much anymore. Fact is, a single mother with a couple kids, which we all know there are tons of, is much better off on welfare than working a typical factory job these days. She'd have to be plain stupid to work for 25-30k a year when she can collect more than double that on welfare and provide a better living for her kids.


Well, if true, then they're making minimum wage in NY for doing production work. Which is relatively insane, depending on the type of factory.
