As far as charities go I recall that the Salvation Army gave 98%+ of the contributions back to their programs.
That is why I have given to them historically. Not after this.
The United Way is another good one.iirc
They've had their share of scandals going way back. They also embed themselves in companies to pressure and coerce employees to give. They get nothing from me.
