Beat me to it...... Graduated from public high school in 1968 and got paddled every year. Went to catholic grammar school and didn't get paddled but the nun's didn't take any crap from smart-ass grade schoolers. If I came home from school and complained that Sister Mary What's Her Name hit me, my old man would just say; "I'll bet you were asking for it". In later years a guy I know had a kid in catholic school who came home complaining about how he was treated and the guy told his kid; "That's why I pay them".
