Everyone has an opinion - backed up with good and valid reasons - so my version of the single best answer to your question is a Leupold (take you pick of generation, they are all good, or good enough) in 3x9. Why? That's what I use for that application. I am a hunter, not a target shooter/turret turner BTW: set and forget! KISS.
