You aren't going to stop one pit bull with a stick. A neighbors pit bull attacked my horse as was loading her into a trailer. I hit that pit with a hoe handle. Pit never reacted to being hit. I had to use my pistol to disengage the attack
My friend whacked one on the head with a pick-axe handle. Said it was a good hit, both eyes popped out and he went ded quick. Dog had nipped his toddler.
