Both the Dems and the media (same thing) want a showdown between Trump and DeSantis. It'll give them the best ratings and their hope will be that they will destroy each other and whoever moves forward will be bloody enough to beat.
If Trump, DeSantis and their advisors are smart, they won't do that. That's a poorly veiled demoRAT trap that I would hope wouldn't be touched with a 10 ft pole.
