The elephant in the room few people talk about is poaching. There's lots of poachers out there and one poacher shooting a lot of illegal birds can put a huge dent into a local population. For every one caught, there are many more that get awayt with it. I've no use for a poacher, among the lowest life scum there is. They should serve jail time, loose their hunting priveleges for life and be banned from owning firearms at all.

The legal annual limit is three birds, but Cobb said Cook later confessed to killing nine turkeys and missing three others during April 2006. Cobb said Cook said, “I can promise you … that’s it right there. You just can’t get any better than that.”
Cobb said Cook confessed to killing up to 12 turkeys per year and as many as four a day, although a photo in evidence shows him with a dog and five freshly killed turkeys.
