Regarding the 7x57, I�d opt for the 7mm-08 or .260 Rem instead. Both have broader ammo selections available and Remington offers a reduced recoil load for both.

Regarding the .270 Win, this would be my choice if occasional elk were on the menu. With the .270 Win you get considerably more choices in ammo than with the 7mm-08 or .260 Rem. Ammo options include loads from 100PSP and 110g TTSX to 150g Partition and Trophy Bonded Tip. The .270 Win is, IMHO, perhaps the best deer and antelope cartridge ever developed and with the right loads it makes it a passable 500 yard elk cartridge.
