I don't as a rule go for the shoulders first anymore. But you never know what shot you'll be given when you load up. I started out hunting with overly tough bullets. And as a result I got very good at finishing shots and tracking when shoulder shots weren't readily had. I became a big fan of cup/core and bonded bullets as my experience grew. This one was just one of those that no one I knew had any experience with.
