Sitting in my recliner in rehab a few days
after my first stroke, I felt ne'er a pain
nor a worry. One of the babes came in,
checked my blood pressure, and got all
fretty — 60/50.
Suddenly, a gaggle of gals fretted jitterly
on my left, talking to others on my right.

"I'd like to get him into bed," one of 'em
said to the others on the other side of me.

"I've waited years to hear a woman say that
about me," I said.

Nobody so much as grinned.

Within minutes, my BP went back up to its
usual 120/80, and it has stayed within
that vicinity for over 13 years now.
