Both of the newer 52's were bought lightly used. My earlier Browning was only $700 +/- as was my current Winchester. Be that as it may, any amount is too much to pay for a rifle that does not shoot well. Maybe I have just been lucky, but I have enjoyed this type of 22 rifle since owning my 52c. You are missing out on something very nice if you don't try one. Take a bit of time to adjust trigger to your liking and try a few different brands of ammo. Mine likes CCI.
