Rolly, The G33/40 cut and the thumbcut did serve a purpose however small it may be. When I started to surface grind the action I could see that the lettering on the 45 degree beveling obviously wasn't going to clean up. I could have just run an endmill across it to recut the 45 but I didn't like the looks of it anyway. I mulled over ideas to make the side of the action look better and this is what I came up with. The original action is supposed to be a mini mauser but to me it didn't look anything like any mauser, FN, Mex, 1909, or any of them. I believe that now it looks like mini mauser.
