Republicans are also largely to blame for illegal immigration, with Mexicans in particular, which are the lion's share. Go back about 50 years ago, and the magnitude wasn't really significant. And, a goodly portion of those who came in were at least hardworking without an entitlement attitude, and would assimilate. But Republicans turned a blind eye to what they viewed as cheap labor for agriculture and construction. That was a big mistake, but politically expedient then. By the time anyone raised the alarm and took note, Republicans for the most part were already afraid of hispanic voter retribution, and Republicans can't outbribe a constituency better than Dems can.
