Season starts Aug 15 and runs continuously through the end of Jan. Deer archery starts on Oct 1. So, I'd say any time before Oct. 1 or after the first of the year.

That said, mid-Aug generally finds high temps well into the 90s and LOTS of humidity and usually 'skeeters. But, if you find a producing hickory stand during that time it can be GOOD! laugh

Though I've never done it, you can shoot them from the water as long as the boat is not under power. I think it'd be a hoot to get in a canoe or jon boat and float either a back pay of Patoka Lake or one of the smaller rivers and snipe them from it!
