A sporterized 1903 Springfield A-1 in 30/06. It had a Redfield receiver sight and a sour dough front.
I got teased like hell because it didn't wear a scope. It was 1979 and my first deer hunt on a friend's farm with her family. I shot the biggest deer opening day that year on a drive. A big 8 pointer that must have weighed around 180 lbs. The teasing stopped. Her dad was so mad that I got that deer that he wouldn't let me hunt there the next year.
