My first deer rifle was a Ruger 44 magnum semi auto carbine. Shot my first deer in 1965 in Quebec north of a small town called fermeneuve. Was a yearling doe but I could not have been prouder. Shot her on a beech treed ridge, spooked probably by someone else as it came running straight at me and then stopped at about 30 yards when it saw me. Shot it with 250 grain soft point. I still can remember the tiny details of the hunt as if it happened yesterday.
