You must have a magnum sighted in and ready for that long shot!
A rifle that will reach out there! Of course the 270 and 30-06 will shoot far but a magnum will go further.
Another idea is a target rifle. I have shot in competition all year around. More shots fired than hunting.
Check with the NRA for events near where you live and there are also postal matches.
