I'm going to do a short barreled, mannlicher stocked 7X57 this year. I seriously doubt it'll be finished this year but I'm going to get started.
What I have in mind is a 19" barrel, banded front and rear sights, custom scope bases, BRNO ZG-47 safety, Timney trigger, Weibe Orbendorf style bolt handle, Lever release floorplate and a shotgun style trigger guard.
The components are: G33/40 action Krieger FTW barrel NECG banded sight bases BRNO ZG-47 safety
I have a stunningly beautiful Turkish mannlicher blank for it that has excellent layout, good figure and just the right amount of fiddleback.
The stock will be patterned off of a modified BRNO 22F pattern. I'm taking about half of the drop out of it and adding a mid forearm schnable along a shadow line check piece.
It'll be a nice mix of old world styling with a few modern touches.
Very nice project! .... I'd like to do something similar in a 20" 6.5x57.
