Over the years, I have acquired several rifles that I thought would be the one I really wanted to kill elk with,and I did kill elk with them. Then I settled on the .06 .Mostly l because I inherited from my FIL and it had some history.I have killed a lot of elk with it. However, if were starting today,I would settle on a 7-08 . Heavy enough for elk, yet great for deer and antelope.Something is Pre-64 Win. Clone
