For me it's the .250-3000. I like everything about the cartridge and feel it's about ideal for my needs and I even love the Savage 99 rifle. But for some reason the cartridge always eluded me. A couple months ago my son called me from NC to tell me Ledford's in Hickory had a 99 EG in .250 Savage for $550. He said he didn't know if I'd be interested because even though it is nice it's drilled and tapped. I told him to buy it right away. He went back the next day and it was sold. So the round still eludes me. Someday......
Probably a .270. I went to the .30-06 instead. Several of my friends have owned them and done very well.
I actually owned a Model 70 SS .270 FW with a Boss I bought for a donor. Never shot it though. Rebarreled it with a new take-off. It is still my favorite rifle.
