the perfect rifle for whitetail deer seems to vary from place to place. For the past two years, I have supplemented the lever carbine with a Ruger Ranch bolt rifle in 7.62x39. This one might wind up replacing the Marlin for being just what I need.

A 44 mag long gun works well in mid TN too.
