The .257 Roberts may meet your needs. Or at least that's my experience.

The big advantage of the 6.5 Creedmoor compared to the .270 Winchester at such "normal" ranges is about 2/3 the .270's recoil--and very fine accuracy with inexpensive factory ammo. The lighter recoil makes practice shooting more pleasant--IF you shoot more than the average hunter. The accurate factory ammo makes a difference if you don't handload.
