The manufacture of my vehicle say that under no condition shall exceed 8000.0 miles. This is a V8 HD truck using that 0W-40 Full SYN oil. I change the oil at 5000.0 miles because I tow a travel trailer and I operate in cold climate. Oil change cost is >$80.00 materials only. Maintenance cost is $0.0061/Mile
You can preform a simple test that will indicate how clean you oil is. Just put a drop of the hot oil on a clean white paper napkin. The stain on the napkin will show contaminate in the center and a cleaner ring around the outside. Fully contaminated oil will just have a dark spot.
