You left out the part of the article that shows Trump has not donated any significant amounts to Democrats since 2011.
It is no secret that Trump supported Democrats in the past, many on the right were very leery of him for that reason.
Also, he is a developer and he probably had to donate to the Dems to get support for his projects (pay to play)
Another possibility is he simply opened his eyes and accepted the truth (Democrats are scum)
