The big Generac units I used to install at our remote sites came set up to run on NG. They came with the orifice to convert to propane and that’s how we did it since they were generally out in the middle of a pasture or somewhere. But if you already have natural gas at your house you might want to just plumb it in that way. I’ve been through lots of ice storms and seen it slick enough the propane truck couldn’t get out but I’ve never seen the gas get shut off due to weather. Our service guy said they run a little better on NG too. Steer clear of the units with the Cherry engines, go Mitsubishi for way better reliability if Generac is on your radar. Whatever you get wire mesh every possible opening from pinhole on up, rodents and dirt dobbers are the #1 cause of issues. Just FYI.
