I have been shooting the same Mossberg 500 since 1996. It's one of the El Cheapo Viking editions with the green plastic stock. I got it at a scratch-n-dent sale at Dicks. It has a vented 28" barrel and a Carlson's Dead Coyote choke. I put on a scope, because the original barrel was bent (hence the cheap price). Mossberg replaced the barrel, but my eyes were bad enough that I found a scope was of terrific benefit. I've been hunting with it ever since.

Over a decade ago, I stripped it back to its original ugliness and gave it a spray job with Krylon Fusion. I've since done a few for friends since:

The extra barrel is a factory rifled deer barrel. I used it for a half-dozen or so years in Ohio for deer.

At the time, the way I looked at the paint job was that nothing worse could happen to the shotgun. It was a very freeing experience.

I've since thought about a bunch of turkey gun projects, but I really can't beat this old '500 for practicality.
