This would blow up exponentially in the US, except for one thing.

Deregulation.

At first, it helped the guy who wanted to own his own truck.
It eventually lead to a business so competitive that (outside certain
niche markets) economy of scale is the key to profit.
Little guys are screwed.

40 years ago independent drivers could and would "Park the Sumbitch".
Now, companies control so such of the business that it's much harder.
Employees would get fired for stopping. Owner operators, contracted,
are often too strapped to stop, and afraid of repercussions.

But, as Dutch said, they are still largely independent minded.
They are also hugely conservative.
Most, have a PhD in Poliscience
from The Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies.

If pushed enough, enough will stand. We already can't move enough
freight. It wouldn't take many.

Seeing that video Steve posted, I had a sudden idea.

All you old retired SOB's!
So many want to talk, what they would do.
Wanna do something?
Get a couple dozen of your grumpy old buddies, and go for breakfast.
On the other side of the city. Around 7 would be about right.
I'm thinking 10-15 cars. Running 5-10 under the limit.
Passing each other, the way so many do. 1/2mph faster than the guy
to you right. Make sure you are being passed by a buddy on the left.
About 930, head back home. Driving the same way. (I know it won't be unusual 😉)

Wave at your crosstown friends as they head
home too!

Learn from your enemy.
I'm not joking. A legal, truly peaceful protest from older guys.
Absolutfücking up traffic for a good part of every workday, in
many of our major cities and traffic hubs.

It doesn't have to be NY or LA.

Columbus Oh, Indy,, Knoxville, Nashville, Chattanooga....these cities have
a huge volume of through traffic.
And less than optimum interchanges.
If they and others like them suffered big East/West and N/S backups...
It would lock things up.

Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!
