The last days of what?

Not the earth or humanity. The last days of the Mosaic Covenant. The scaffold was being torn down, because the last Temple was raised. The body of believers in Yeshua the Messiah.

It really is that simple.

The idea of a rapture didn't appear until the early 1800's with John Darby. Those who believe in a rapture have gone to great lengths to find any mention of it in the early church but have failed. I see no sign of it in the Bible. What I do see is God's protection for the believers on earth during the tribulation. The arguments that Rev doesn't talk about the tribulation coming down on believers because they weren't there doesn't hold water. They'll be there but they'll be safely in God's hand, not being squished under his thumb.
