My first rifle was a Ruger .243. I shot everything with it for a couple of years then started aquiring other rifles. When I got my first Roberts the .243 was doomed. It sat for over 10 years in my safe. I was going to give it to my nephew when he got his licence but he met a girl and that was the end of that. A mate wanted to buy iy for his son but somehow I just didn't want to get rid of it, even though I didn't use it. In the end I had it rebarreled to 6.5CM a couple of years ago and it now gets a bit of a run again.
