My first was also a 303, No4 Mk1* lend lease manufactured by Savage. It was kitchen counter kustumized in the '60s with handguards removed and the barrel shortened to 20" or so. I don't have it, but my friends daughter does. I helped her drag a stonking HUGE bambi out of the woods last gun deer season. The younglings do iron sights way better than an old fart in their 50s can manage.

As for my first proper manufactured as a hunting rifle non-rimfire bit of gear, that's a tanger 25-06. It goes out second weekend of gun deer season in WI (AKA South Canada) most years. There's an 1895 Winchester in 303 that might go into the woods with me once in a while as well.
