Yes. Most notably, during FDR's Presidency, though they've been here since, or shortly after, Marx devised the Communist Manifesto and the disenfranchised saw it as a way to get something for nothing.

Since that time and since Joe McCarthy was ignored, Socialism/Marxism/Communism has slowly metastasized throughout America.
